tumors and related conditions via the Internet to promote a healing exchange of
information and support.

and related conditions (from AVM to xanthroastrocytoma)
- their families, supporters and caregivers
- health care professionals and researchers
- interested members of the general public
- The Organization is driven exclusively by
volunteers
HOW?
- Our primary services are delivered via
email support groups on the Internet.
- We also train People how to use the
Internet to get information and support.
- Our funding comes mainly from individuals
in the general public, but occasionally from foundations and companies.
WHEN and WHERE?
- Our online services run 24 hours a day.
- We do training workshops at conferences and
in clinics.
- People from all over the world who have
access to email are able to participate.
WHY?
We believe:
- Informed health care consumers may obtain
better care.
- Patients and families who have good
psychosocial support may live longer and have a better quality of life.
- Online support may be easier than face to
face.
- Support is available 24 hours a day in ways
not available without technology.
- There are no geographical boundaries when
it comes to support.
- Health professionals who participate learn
patient issues.
Note:
At this time most of our resources serve those interested in brain tumors. However, The
Healing Exchange BRAIN TRUST does not include the word "tumor" in our name so as
to intentionally include related brain conditions, and subseqent acquired brain injury,
because there is incredible potential for a healing exchange of information and support
regardless of one's specific primary medical diagnosis. There are many common secondary
medical and social issues for People dealing with brain tumors, cysts, lesions, etc. and
the subseqent aquired brain injury which has a tremendous impact on individuals and
families.
